An evil magician aims to get hold of an ancient secret that could unleash destruction upon the world and it would take a superhero to stop him. That superstar happens to be Drona...

Director: Goldie Behl
Music: Dhruv Ghanekar
Lyrics: Vaibhav Modi
Starring: Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon, Akhilendra Mishra

Rating: *

Is he powerless warrior? Not as powerless as the script atleast! As a fostered child young Aditya (Abhishek Bachchan) hasn't experienced true affection since his childhood and remains at the mercy of his step mother and brother, even after his step father has expired. Blue petals which appear out of nowhere remind Aditya that he is no ordinary child! The petals drop a Kada in his closet, which leads to unprecedented changes in Aditya's life.

A diabolic necromancer Riz Raizada (Kay Kay Menon) whose predecessors are Asuras has been in search of a valuable secret - which can be obtained only upon defeating Drona. Strong winds, thunderstorms, desert sands and a tale of a warrior clan - the tale of the victory of good over evil unfolds but you end up confused if Drona is a superhero or merely pushed into being one because of his lineage.

Abhishek Bachchan strides and shines bright. Sonia [Priyanka Chopra] protects, well. Jaya Bachchan steals the show throughout her scenes and it would have been nice if she had not been turned into a statue so soon. Kay Kay Menon is convincing as a magician but Navaneet Nishan [remember her as Tara?] dissapoints.

According to the makers of the movie: ''DRONA is rooted in the vibrant tapestry of Indian mythology. DRONA is the compelling modern tale of one man's spectacular voyage through the labyrinths of mystic myths and legendary legacies. It is a journey that will force him to face his fears and make him the hero he was born to become.''
